I have the honour to acknowledge the

receipt of Your Excellency's letter No. 110 (34/50/1935)

of 20th November, 1935, regarding the proposals for

the amendment of Article 194 of the Order-in-Council

dealing with the control of China Companies, which

were put forward by Sir John Brenan in his despatch

No. 430 of 30th October, 1935, and to inform you that

my advisers see no objection to the proposals in

principle.

2. I should however be glad if I might be

further consulted when the drafting of the proposed

amendments has taken more definite shape.
